Intersession at TCNJ

The College of New Jersey offers two intersessions that take place during the summer and winter breaks. Summer courses run during four separate sessions between academic years; January, or "J-Term" courses run between the Fall and Spring semesters.

These intersessions allow both current TCNJ students and visiting students from other institutions to take courses on our campus and, through selected travel courses, on other campuses and abroad.

To learn more about intersession courses, including dates, times, and course listings, please select either the Summer Term or the January Term in the tabs above.

Why take an intersession course?

Taking courses during the Summer or January intersessions offers multiple benefits for students:

  • Liberal learning courses are required for completion of most degrees and many are offered during the summer and January sessions
  • It can be difficult to fit multiple major, minor, or concentration requirements into the Fall and Spring semesters, so intersessions are the perfect time to catch up on or get ahead of degree requirements
  • Intersessions allow students to focus on fewer courses which provides a relaxed environment while preserving the academic vigor of course material

Courses are available for TCNJ and visiting students who are looking for undergraduate or graduate level courses.
